ZEPHYRHILLS - A memorial service will be held Friday for Gunner, the Zephyrhills police dog who died during a burglary call Thursday.
The 4-year-old black German shepherd, who was partnered with Officer Joseph Rinaldo, responded to a burglary at a business and was hit by an SUV and killed while trying to cross Gall Boulevard. The dog had just been called off after pursuing the suspects.
Other officers caught both suspects.
The canine's memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at Zephyr Park, behind Alice Hall, at 38116 Fifth Ave.
