GAINESVILLE - Paul Wilson's football career is over at the University of Florida.
Wilson, who played at Lakeland High School, has a broken right foot for the second time is less than a year, and Coach Urban Meyer says doctors have advised him to give up football.
Wilson played in Florida's first two games last season, then had season-ending foot surgery in September. He tried to return to the field this fall, but reinjured his foot Aug. 7. Meyer says Wilson would have contributed on special teams this season.
The Gators planned to file for a medical hardship for Wilson, meaning he would still be on scholarship but not count against the NCAA limit of 85.
