Judges may have been threatened
TAMPA - A Wesley Chapel man who once stalked Hillsborough County State Attorney Mark Ober may have planned to kill the prosecutor and made threats against judges.
The accusations emerged in a bond hearing Thursday for Michael Joe Wynperle, 36. Circuit Judge Walter Heinrich postponed the hearing after learning Gov. Charlie Crist's office appointed the office of Bernie McCabe, state attorney for Pinellas and Pasco counties, to the case.
Heinrich said the case might eventually be transferred to Pinellas County since Wynperle was accused of threatening Hillsborough County judges.
Wynperle was arrested in Pasco County last week.
