New 4-lane road to open Aug. 25

TAMPA - The grand opening of a 1.3-mile, four-lane thoroughfare linking Hillsborough and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards is scheduled for Aug. 25, airport officials said Monday.
The Cargo Road thoroughfare was expected to open in February 2010.
In a separate project, the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority granted Tampa an easement for a pedestrian and bicycle path around the western and southern boundaries of Peter O. Knight Airport on Davis Islands, beyond the security fence.
The timetable for developing the South Davis Islands Trail has not been determined.
