DADE CITY - Pasco County sheriff's detectives were searching for two men Friday involved in the early morning shooting of a man outside a bar.
The man was in his car near Cooper's Bar on Center Street at 3:30 a.m. Friday when he was ambushed by two masked men in black "kind of ninja-style" clothing, Col. Al Nienhuis said.
"They just came up to him and said something like, 'Give me all your money,'
" Nienhuis said.
Then they shot him, Nienhuis said.
Detectives gave no details on how many times or where the man was shot.
"It doesn't appear to be life-threatening," Nienhuis said.
He was flown by medical helicopter to a local trauma center.
"He is in guarded but stable condition," Nienhuis said.
"Right now, the motive appears to be robbery," Nienhuis said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Pasco County Sheriff's Office at 1-800-854-2861.
The Tribune does not identify victims of crimes such as this when no arrests have been made.
