Mother Nature couldn't wash away a return to One Buc Place for the Bucs first practice since their Saturday loss to the Tennessee Titans. Here is a recap of our reports straight from the practice field.
5:25: Thunderstorms have appeared again on the horizon just as the Bucs coaches and players call it a day.
4:51: Tampa Bay DT Ryan Sims is the only defensive starter working with the second team. Might mean the stock of Roy Miller is rising.
4:49: Tampa Bay WR Michael Clayton just dropped a 30-yard TD pass from QB Luke McCown. Clayton sprinted down the sidelines with CB Torrie Cox covering him and the ball landed in his hands while he was in stride, but Clayton could not hold on.
4:33: Tampa Bay is currently installing plays, so practice is moving in slow motion right now.
4:03: Tampa Bay CB Aqib Talib is not at practice. He was not listed on Tampa Bay's injury report so the reason for his absence is unknown.
3:59: Bucs GM Mark Dominik says the hip injury that will sideline punter Josh Bidwell for the entire 2009 season is not career-threatening.
3:57: Bucs QB Josh Johnson is currently working with the first team. I've noticed that Johnson has received more work at QB during Tampa Bay's last three practices than Josh Freeman. It looks like Tampa Bay is really trying to see if he is worth keeping around.
3:28: The Bucs have announced that they have placed P Josh Bidwell on the Injured Reserve list. It also appears that C Jeff Faine, LB Angelo Crowell and WR Joe Filani are back at practice. All had been nursing injuries.
3:40: QB Luke McCown worked with the first team during 11-on-11 drills. QB Byron Leftwich is currently working with the second team.
3:18: Tampa Bay players are not in pads. Looks like there will not be much contact in today's practice.
3:05: Bucs practice has begun and WR Michael Clayton is back at practice. Clayton had been nursing a hamstring injury the past few days, but appears to be healthy.
2:35: A Bucs representative just peeked his head into the media workroom and informed us that they will attempt to resume practice at 3:00.
2:30: The start of Bucs practice has been delayed because of lightning. Practice has been delayed around 30 minutes because of lightning previously. We'll keep you posted.
