Someone's poisoning pigeons in Indian Shores.
The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary picked up a pair of sick pigeons Monday, both of which quickly died.
Sanctuary spokeswoman Michelle Simoneau said it was obvious the pigeons had been poisoned.
"Their heads roll back; their eyes roll back in their head.," Simoneau said.
"Usually there's nothing that can be done," she said. "They die fairly quickly. There's no external wounds."
The best guess, Simoneau said, is that someone put out poisoned corn or birdseed to deal with problem pigeons.
However, poisoned seed will kill anything that eats it.
"It's real dangerous when people put out poison like that because other wildlife can get it as well," Simoneau said.
The sanctuary is offering a $1,000 for information on who is poisoning pigeons. Anyone with information can call the sanctuary at (727) 391-2473.
