Berkeley Prep senior middle hitter Lindsay Young has verbally committed to Colgate University, Berkeley coach Randy Dagostino announced in an email Tuesday.
"After many college visits and many offers, Lindsay and her family are happy to say that this was by far the best fit for Lindsay," the email said. "Colgate is equally as happy with the commitment of Lindsay Young and their head coach, Ryan Baker, feels that she will make an immediate impact her freshman year."
Young, a 6-foot power hitter, is a three-time Class 3A All-State and Tribune All-Hillsborough County selection. Last season, she helped Berkeley reach the Class 3A state championship with with 242 kills and 57 blocks.
As a sophomore, PrepVolleyball.com rated her as one of the best in the nation for the Class of 2010. As a freshman, Young led Berkeley to the state final four with 276 kills.
Young has also won a Junior Olympic gold medal as a member of the Tampa Bay Juniors volleyball club.
