TAMPA - Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio's team holds the No. 2 selection in Thursday's draft for the Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football Mayoral Face-Off.
The draft is slated for 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Green Bay, Wis., Mayor Jim Schmitt will select first.
Last week, Iorio declined to divulge her drafting strategy. Yahoo spokeswoman Nicol Addison said Tampa worked hard to prepare for the draft.
Tampa is one of 11 cities participating in the draft. A 12th team will be managed by Yahoo. The winning city will receive $15,000 and give the money to a local youth charity with a sports element. Yahoo's team will not be eligible to win and will "steer clear of [drafting] players that the mayors will want to draft or consider drafting," Addison said.
Iorio's team name is the Tampa Con Leches.
Fantasy football is a game in which participants assemble an imaginary team of real players and score points based on those players' actual statistical performances each week.
The mayor won't be alone in picking players for the Con Leches. She is expected to be joined by Tampa Tribune pro football writer Ira Kaufman, St. Petersburg Times columnist Ernest Hooper, city employee John Allen and potentially WFLA, 970 AM, radio personality Jack Harris.
