TAMPA - The windows in old City Hall have about reached the end of their life.
So city officials plan to replace 348 wooden panes in the eight-floor, nearly century-old landmark building on Kennedy Boulevard at Florida Avenue.
The city council on Thursday is expected to vote on a proposed $1.5 million bid from R. Krueger Construction. Funding for the project will come from utility tax proceeds. The bid is lower than the $2.2 million the city had budgeted for the building's renovations.
The city had planned to use wooden windows, but decided on less-costly aluminum. The city's Architectural Review Commission approved the design changes last December.
Old City Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places.
