HOMESTEAD - A South Florida family says they were surprised to find their home was accidentally sold at a foreclosure auction.
On Aug. 12, 52-year-old Anna Ramirez, her husband and a 20-year-old nephew were told to pack up their belongings because their Homestead residence had been auctioned off.
The family's mortgage lender had started the foreclosure process against them, but moved to halt it when the sides agreed on a loan modification. Because of a Miami-Dade court error, the proceedings were never stopped.
The family was back home the next day, after a Circuit Court judge intervened.
Messages left with the clerk of court were not immediately returned.
