TAMPA - The windows in old City Hall have pretty much reached the end of their life.
So Tampa officials plan to replace 348 wooden panes in the eight-floor, nearly century-old landmark on Kennedy Boulevard at Florida Avenue.
The city council is expected to vote today on a proposed $1.5 million bid from R. Krueger Construction. Funding will come from utility tax proceeds. The bid is lower than the $2.2 million Tampa budgeted for the building's renovations.
The city planned to install wood-frame windows but decided on less-costly aluminum. The city's Architectural Review Commission approved the design changes last December.
Old City Hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
