Pinellas County Rep. CW Bill Young has pulled himself out of consideration to be appointed by Gov. Charlie Crist to fill Florida's vacant Senate seat.
Crist is completing interviews today with the remaining five of the 10 candidates for the position. Crist spokeswoman Erin Isaac said a few minutes ago that during his interview this afternoon, Young asked to be removed from consideration. She couldn't say anything about Young's reasons.
The action makes it seem more likely, however that Young will run for re-election to his House seat next year. There has been speculation for years that Young, who's 78 and in his 20th term, would retire.
