TAMPA - A former NBA referee, convicted of gambling on professional basketball games, was arrested Monday by U.S. marshals, Hillsborough County jail records show.
Tim Donaghy, of Bradenton, was charged with violation of probation.
Donaghy, who bet on games he officiated, pleaded guilty in 2007 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and transferring betting information in violation of interstate commerce regulations. He was sentenced to 15 months. In June, he left a federal prison in Pensacola to serve the remainder of his sentence at a Tampa halfway house.
