Pedestrian killed crossing U.S. 19

HOLIDAY - A 50-year-old man was killed Monday night as he tried to cross U.S. 19 and was struck by a van, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At 9:20 p.m., Edgardo Montes Jr. was walking east across U.S. 19 just south of Buena Vista Lane when a 2000 Ford van in the southbound turn lane hit him, a report states.
The driver of the van, Frank E. Dodson Jr., 50, of Lecanto, was not injured.
Montes was pronounced dead at the scene by Pasco Fire Rescue paramedics.
The highway patrol was investigating.
