TALLAHASSEE - Professional discipline complaints against 49 Florida doctors have been dropped because the state missed the six-year statute of limitations, a published report says.
Health News Florida recently reported that the Health Department's failure to file an official complaint in that timeframe means the cases were closed before any action could be taken.
"There are going to be a lot of cases we didn't protect the public on," chief prosecutor Ephraim Livingston was quoted as telling the Board of Medicine.
