TAMPA – Moments after wrapping his hands around one of the biggest touchdown catches in Steelers history, receiver Santonio Holmes was named the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XLIII.

Holmes leaped high in the air in the back corner of the end zone to grab quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's daring pass over three Arizona defenders. Holmes touched both feet down for a 6-yard touchdown and 27-23 lead with 35 seconds left in the game. The score provided the winning margin.

Holmes, a Belle Glade native who went to Glades Central High School, finished with nine catches for 131 yards and one touchdown.

As the Steelers huddled down 23-20, Holmes told Roethlisberger he wanted to come through with the big plays.

"I said to him I wanted to be the guy to make plays for this team," Holmes said.

He had four catches on the Steelers' winning drive, including a 40-yard catch-and-run that got Pittsburgh to the Arizona 6-yard line.
