Chamberlain senior dual-threat quarterback Dontae Aycock, the 2008 Guy Toph Award winner as the best senior football player in Hillsborough County, is verbally committed to Georgia Tech, Chamberlain assistant coach Brian Turner told The Tampa Tribune.
Turner said Aycock, a 5-foot-11, 210-pound athlete considered one of the top prospects in the nation, secretly committed to the Yellow Jackets three weeks ago, but when Auburn offered him a scholarship Thursday, he decided to take an official visit this weekend.
Aycock will announce his decision between Georgia Tech and Auburn on Wednesday, National Signing Day.
The four-star recruit led the Chiefs to an 11-2 record, a district championship and Class 5A region final appearance this past season while leading the county in rushing yards and scoring.
Aycock passed for 1,491 yards and 17 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,406 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also has a 3.1 unweighted grade-point average and has more than 30 college scholarships offers, which include Louisville, South Carolina and Illinois.
After the season, he was named to the Class 5A All-State first team and Tribune All-Hillsborough County first team.
