NEW YORK - Paris Horne scored nine of his 19 points in a game-breaking 18-2 run Sunday as St. John's beat South Florida 65-48.
Dominique Jones had 16 points for the Bulls (7-14, 2-7 Big East), who have lost five of six.
Justin Leemow hit one of South Florida's eight 3-pointers to give the Bulls a 40-38 lead with 12:53 to play. They then went 7:48 without scoring and 8:52 without a field goal.
The win moved the Red Storm (12-9, 3-6) into a tie for 10th place in the 16-team Big East with Notre Dame and No. 25 Georgetown.
Sean Evans had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Justin Burrell had 10 points for St. John's, which had lost five of six.
Rob Thomas tied the game for St. John's at 40 with a rebound basket with 12:18 left.
South Florida managed two field goals the rest of the way, both coming after the Red Storm had taken a 56-42 lead on a breakaway layup by Horne with 2:55 left.
