TAMPA - Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is listed as a starter, as expected, for Super Bowl XLIII tonight despite injuring a knee in the AFC Championship two weeks ago.
Ward strained his right knee in the first quarter of the Steelers' victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC title game and did not return in that contest. He also missed practice on Wednesday, but participated in all subsequent practices and the Saturday walkthrough. He and Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin have said all along that Ward, the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XL three years ago, would play tonight.
