St. Petersburg police say they have arrested an additional three teenagers in a string of more than a dozen arsons over the weekend.
On Sunday, police arrested Mathew Kiernan, 16, and Francis Huy Du, also 16, both of St. Petersburg. Since then they have arrested Alain Nguyen, 18, Tan Minh Tran, 16, and Quoc Tan Lam, 17, said St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa. The teens' addresses were not available.
The five are believed to have been involved in at least 15 arsons within city limits early Sunday. In all but one case, vehicles were targeted, St. Petersburg police have said. Detectives are trying to determine if the teens were also involved in some arsons outside the city.
The teens have admitted to fashioning Molotov cocktails out of soda bottles and gasoline, and tossing the devices randomly at several locations because they were "bored," police have said.
