Bartow police said a woman they thought was in danger this morning is back safe with her family.
Detectives grew concerned about Brittany Brianna Barber, 19, after she vanished about 4 p.m. Monday while she and her grandfather were at the Polk County courthouse in Bartow to obtain an injunction for protection against her husband, Chad Rashod Barber, 22.
Chad Barber approached them in the parking lot; the grandfather rushed into the courthouse to summon help, and when he returned, Brittany Barber was gone, police said. The woman's family did not hear from her overnight, and she did not appear for work at a clothing store in Lakeland, police said.
About 11:20 a.m. today, police reported that they had found Brittany Barber. The woman had called detectives to say she was fine after learning about the investigation into her whereabouts.
Brittany Barber told detectives that she went with her husband willingly to discuss their differences, police said. She reported no crimes to detectives during the interview.
News Channel 8 reporter Chip Osowski contributed to this report.
