New Principals Named For Pasco Schools

LAND O' LAKES - The Pasco County School Board approved the hiring today of principals for Centennial Elementary and Moon Lake Elementary.
Cynthia Harper, a former school district employee, will come out of retirement to take the helm at Centennial Elementary, which is south of Dade City.
Elise Landahl, an assistant principal at Anclote Elementary, will become the new Moon Lake principal.
Harper held a number of teaching, assistant principal and principal positions in her more than 30 years with the Pasco County School District. She retired in 2007 after serving five years as principal of Wesley Chapel Elementary.
She holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of South Florida.
Harper will become the Centennial Elementary principal March 23, succeeding Scott Mitchell, who has been named principal of the new Watergrass Elementary under construction in Wesley Chapel.
From Feb. 16 to March 23, Harper will fill in temporarily at Moon Lake Elementary until Landahl moves over to that school.
Landahl has worked in Pasco County since 1996. She taught at Richey Elementary and Marlowe Elementary before being named assistant principal at Anclote Elementary in 2006.
She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in early childhood education from Florida State University. She also has a master's degree in educational leadership from USF.
Landahl will be Moon Lake's third principal in the last year. She succeeds Cara Allen, who accepted a job at a school district in her home state of New Jersey after serving as Moon Lake principal since August.
Allen replaced Susan Barcellino, who moved to Pasco County from Collier County in March for the Moon Lake job, then resigned in July to return to Collier County.
