The body of a 54-year-old woman was found in a burning Bradenton home when fire crews were battling the blaze this morning, Manatee County deputies say.
The woman was identified as Virginia Butera, according to the Manatee County Sheriff Office.
Deputies and West Manatee Fire came to the house fire about midnight.
Firefighters entered the home slightly to fight the blaze. They were "forced back by a flashover and had to exit the residence," and before exiting, "they observed a body in the rear bedroom," a Manatee County Sheriff's Office news release states.
Investigators determined two residents of the home at 604 36th St. W. had escaped the fire, a 53-year-old man and his 15-year-old daughter. Butera apparently was the man's girlfriend, deputies say.
The teen was uninjured, and the man suffered from burns and smoke inhalation and was taken to a hospital
"At time of report, it is believed one of two electrical heaters is to blame for the fire," the release states.
