Body Found Near Manatee County Nature Trail

Manatee County deputies are investigating a suspicious death near a nature trail off Rye Road in the eastern part of the county.
Deputies arrived at the scene near Rye Road, east of Ellenton, about 2:10 p.m. and found the body of a woman 20 feet away from the road. Detectives say there were signs of trauma to the upper body. The case has been ruled a homicide.
The woman was slain sometime today, detectives say. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The victim is white and believed to be in her 20's but has not yet been idenfitied.
