DADE CITY - Prosecutors announced this week that they will seek the death penalty for Luc Pierre-Charles Jr. and Tyree Jenkins in the shooting deaths of two Wesley Chapel High students.
Neighbors found Derek Pieper, 17, and Raymond Veluz, 18, face down in a field near Harris Hill Road on the morning of July 28, 2006.
Both had been shot in the back multiple times.
The case remained open until July, when investigators issued warrants for Jenkins and Pierre-Charles.
Jenkins, 22, of Zephyrhills, was arrested within hours.
Pierre-Charles, 21, of Wesley Chapel, remained at large until October, when members of the U.S. Marshals Service tracked him to the east central Florida town of Rockledge. They found him at a relative's house, hiding between a bed and a wall and under some dirty clothes, records state.
Jenkins and Pierre-Charles are being held in the Land O' Lakes Jail. Pierre-Charles' trial is set for March 9; Jenkins' trial is scheduled for June 1.
