The string of chilly nights last month and this week have strained cold weather shelters in Pinellas County and depleted supplies of basics such as food and coffee.
The shelters open when forecasts call for temperatures to drop below 40 degrees and will be open again tonight. The shelters open about 6 p.m. and provide hot meals, a place to sleep and breakfast. They close about 6 a.m.
In addition to food and coffee, shelters also need disposable tableware, cups, napkins and paper plates.
Donations can be made at the Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless, at 5180 62nd Ave. N. in Pinellas Park, or at any of the shelters:
• First United Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs, 501 E. Tarpon Ave., Tarpon Springs
