Congratulations to the Tribune and other media outlets for helping bring House Speaker Ray Sansom his just reward. He had nerve to blame the media for his downfall when he has no one but himself to blame.

The press is the public's last line of defense against unworthy public officials, as we do not have the knowledge, time and resources to ferret them out. Now the state should get our $25 million back from Sansom's college, then distribute the money to schools that do not have a House speaker in their pocket.

I remember the great coach Vince Lombardi's statement: "Fatigue makes cowards of us all." Maybe he should have said, "Greed makes prostitutes of us all." I apologize to those real pros who don't hide behind the mantle of an elected official.
