Single-Car Crash Closes Avenue In Clearwater

A single-car wreck in Clearwater has prompted authorities to close down a section of South Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater police say.
The wreck occurred at 1:40 p.m. today. Patrol officers were re-routing southbound traffic on Fort Harrison to Woodlawn Street, a communications supervisor said. Northbound traffic was being re-routed at Belleair Road, he said.
The car causing the closure left the road, struck a fire hydrant and ran into a shallow ditch, he said.
