A 57-year-old Tampa woman won a $1 million prize during the Jan. 31 Powerball drawing, Florida Lottery officials said today.
Lavern Logan purchased the winning ticket at the Sweetbay supermarket at 805 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The store received $1,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Logan will use the money to pay off bills and savings for retirement, lottery officials said in a written statement. She also plans to share the winnings with relatives.
Logan is the fourth Powerball player to win $1 million since the game launched in Florida on Jan. 4.
Because Logan added "Power Play" for $1 more, she won $1 million instead of the standard $200,000 payout, lottery officials say.
The next Powerball drawing will be held Saturday at 10:59 p.m. The jackpot is $65 million.
