TAMPA - Firefighters have brought a house fire under control this morning. They are reporting no injuries.
The 6:49 a.m. single-alarm sent two-dozen firefighters to 215 W. Seneca Ave, according to Tampa Fire Rescue Capt. Bill Wade. They found fire in the attic of the single-story house. Units from fire stations in Seminole Heights, North Tampa, Hilldale and East Tampa brought the fire under control in about 15 minutes.
An investigator with the Tampa fire marshal's office was called to the scene to determine the cause, Wade said.
The homeowner told firefighters he awoke to find the lights in the house not working and the smell of smoke. He found fire near the heating system and tried unsuccessfully to use a fire extinguisher.
The fire cause remains under investigation. The house sustained moderate damage, but an estimate was not immediately available.
