Brush Fire Closes Highway 301 In Hernando

Firefighters have knocked down a 50 acre brush fire that closed Highway 301 this afternoon, but the highway remains closed in both directions between State Road 50 and Highway 98.
The fire was in a pasture area and did not affect any homes but did get near some agriculture structures.
No injuries were reported.
The combination of cold weather and ongoing drought has contributed to a spate of brush fires in West Central Florida in recent days.
