A 48-year-old St. Petersburg man was sentenced to life in prison today for drug and firearms charges, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
In November, a U.S. district judge found Dennis D. Williams, 48, guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine, carrying a firearm during a drug-trafficking crime and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Williams and two other people agreed to commit an armed robbery of what they thought was a cocaine stash house, court records show. Williams had a loaded .357 caliber revolver in his possession when he was arrested.
St. Petersburg police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigate the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey S. Downing.
