Regarding "Mistakes Do Happen," Letters, Feb. 4:
You're joking, right? "Didn't occur to me that I was now self-employed"? "Complicated life"? Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner "may not be good at multitasking"?
While serving as U.S. Navy Air Traffic controllers at sea, working 15 to 19 hours a day, seven days a week, wearing pistols in case the guerillas attacked the control tower, we all multitasked and made time in our complicated lives to file our taxes correctly.
We had no TV reminders and, at times, received mail only once a week - if we were lucky.
Over the past 10 to 20 years, we have been reminded about taxes, either by mail or TV ads, more times than we can remember, so there is no excuse whatsoever for not filing correctly.
Most of us learned in high school the difference between being an employee and self-employed and the obligations that came with each status.
