TAMPA - A man once convicted of vehicular homicide has been arrested on drug charges.

Hillsborough County deputies arrested Corbin Legiles Nottingham at 10:50 p.m. Sunday.

The 20-year-old Tampa man was arrested at 23rd Street and 138th Avenue and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine, and obstructing or opposing an officer without violence. He also was charged with violating probation on the vehicular homicide conviction.

At 13802 N. 21st St., Nottingham threw a bottle of pills to the ground and began walking away from a deputy, an arrest report states. The deputy attempted to detain Nottingham, but Nottingham ran. Nottingham was arrested, and the bottle was determined to have about 0.8 grams of crack cocaine inside it, deputies said.

Nottingham remains in Orient Road Jail. His bail has not been set.

In March 2004, Nottingham's midnight joy ride of a stolen car led to the death of one Tampa boy and injuries to two others, Tampa police say. Passenger Darryl B. Richardson, 13, was killed in the wreck. Nottingham was 15 at the time.

The group was traveling in a silver 1998 Chrysler Concorde that police said was stolen from a residence on North 39th Street. In 2004, police said they attempted to stop the vehicle at East Sligh and Nebraska avenues after they saw it traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle east to Sligh and 12th Street, then backed off because the car continued to flee east at about 80 mph.

At Sligh and Rowlett Park Drive, the car veered off the road, hit an embankment, became airborne and flipped several times, police said. By the time authorities arrived, Nottingham, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, had fled. He turned himself in, accompanied by his mother, and was released to authorities at W.T. Edwards Juvenile Detention Center.
