TAMPA - Dedicated movie buffs will have a chance to see all five motion pictures that are nominated for best-picture Oscars at a special marathon screening in select AMC theaters on Feb. 21.
The annual AMC Best Picture Showcase event comes one day before the 81st Academy Awards airs on ABC.
Tampa residents can see "Milk," "The Reader," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Frost/Nixon" back-to-back showings at the AMC Regency 20 on 2496 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon (Regency Square Mall) or at the AMC Veterans 24 on 9302 Anderson Road, Tampa.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and runs past 11 p.m.
The AMC Best Picture Showcase is scheduled for 97 AMC theatres in 42 North American cities.
Guests can purchase an exclusive the all-day pass for $30 (or $25 for AMC Movie Watcher members). Moviegoers also receive a large popcorn with unlimited refills.
AMC officials say this offer is valued at more than $50 and marks the third year of this exclusive event.
Guests get a souvenir lanyard, featuring artwork from the films. It gives guests the freedom to come and go as they please.
Advance ticket sales are available on a first-come, first-served basis online at www.amctheatres.com or by visiting the theater box office.
