Manatee County Slaying Victim's Car Found

A 1996 Dodge Avenger owned by a woman whose body was found Thursday near North Rye Road in Manatee County has been found.
Lauren Whitney Lichon, 22, of Sarasota, was discovered just after 2 p.m. Thursday, east of North Rye Road and about 20 feet south of Rye Wilderness Trail.
Investigators think Lichon, 4900 N. Tamiami Trail, was killed sometime early that afternoon, possibly between 1 and 2 p.m. An autopsy was performed, but the Manatee sheriff's office is not yet releasing the cause of death.
About 6:50 a.m. today, deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot at 7050 15th St. E. in Manatee County. There, they found Lichon's Dodge Avenger.
"We're processing the vehicle but we won't be releasing what, if anything, we find," sheriff's spokesman Dave Bristow wrote in an e-mail to the Tribune.
