Disqualification Forces Change In 'American Idol' Finalists

The 'Idol' finalists begin their quest next week, but one of the original 36 has already been disqualified.

LOS ANGELES - Joanna Pacitti is out of "American Idol." Felicia Barton is in.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Pacitti, who was shown advancing to the final 36 contestants on "American Idol" Wednesday night, has been disqualified.

"It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition," stated a Fox press release announcing the show's full roster of semifinalists.

Pacitti formerly had a deal with A&M Records, though it is unclear why she was let go.

Other semifinalists include: over-the-top comedian Nick "Normund Gentle" Mitchell, graduate student Anoop Desai, dueling piano player Matt Giraud, mother-of-three Lil Rounds, theater actor Adam Lambert, oil rig worker Michael Sarver, welder Matt Breitzke, blind pianist Scott MacIntyre and the 23-year-old sobbing singer Tatiana Del Toro.

On Wednesday, Del Toro and the 53 other remaining hopefuls had to face their final judgment during the last phase of competition before the semifinals of the popular Fox singing contest.
