Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies said they helped shut down an illegal radio station Wednesday afternoon in Winter Haven.
According to a news release, the Federal Communications Commission notified the sheriff's office of complaints of interference with the audio of an Orlando television station. WKMG Channel 6 broadcasts audio on frequency 87.7 FM.
The illegal broadcasts, broadcast on 87.9 FM. were traced to 214 Lee Ave. NE, the release says.
Working with FCC (Federal Communications Commission), the Winter Haven Police Department and the State Attorney's Office, deputies served a search warrant at that address, where they say Anthony Davis, 32, was operating "One Love Radio," which featured reggae music.
Officials seized two mixers, two DJ CD players and other broadcasting equipment from the home, according to the release.
Davis, who told detectives he works as a security guard with Freeman Security in Haines City, admitted to broadcasting illegally, according to the release.
Davis is charged with unlawful transmission of radio frequency, a third-degree felony. He was also charged with driving while license suspended with knowledge and attaching an unassigned tag.
