More Debt A Mistake

It is government intervention in the mortgage industry that got us in this mess. How can they expect us to trust them to get us out by slamming more long-term debt? They just need to cut taxes.

Big Trucks Need Bypass

I understand your editorial ("Shadowy Rail Deal Needs Good Scrubbing," Feb. 9) except for one thing. Exactly where is "the daily addition of 1,500 big trucks to haul freight on area roads" coming from?

I have proposed a Tampa bypass toll road to take freight from Port Manatee to Haines City approximately on the alignment of State Road 37. This would really decrease freight traffic on Interstate 4 and S.R. 60 and also provide a hurricane evacuation route. So far this proposal has fallen on deaf ears.
