RUSKIN - The First Baptist Church of Ruskin has hosted a soccer league for the past five years and a basketball league for the past two.
This spring, the church is looking to add the nation's pastime to its annual roster.
"We're trying to provide as balanced a sports program as we possibly can for everyone in the area," said Mike Montgomery, director of Ruskin Area Youth Sports. R.A.Y.S. is a nonprofit organization sponsored by First Baptist.
The church's Little League baseball program will feature children ages 5 to 12. The league will have sign-ups at the church March 14 and 28.
"We're also looking for additional property ... so we can accommodate more teams and players," Montgomery said. Montgomery hopes to have 200 players registered for the first season, which will begin in mid-May and last until July.
The baseball program will welcome players from Apollo Beach, Balm, Gibsonton, Riverview, Sun City Center and Wimauma, as well as Ruskin.
"We want them to learn about sportsmanship, in addition to having fun while they're playing," Montgomery said.
