A man was shot and another was stabbed in what appears to be two unrelated incidents this morning on opposite sides of Inverness.
The shooting victim is a 54-year-old man who lives on East Mercury Street. He told investigators he was shot in the left shoulder after going out to investigate a strange noise in his yard about 4:40 a.m. He was taken to Citrus Memorial Hospital.
About 5 a.m., a 32-year-old Inverness man "stumbled into an all-night, downtown restaurant on U.S. Highway 41," a Citrus County Sheriff's Office news release states. "He had been slashed in the neck and wrist with a knife or some kind of cutting instrument and was airlifted to Tampa Bay's St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment."
The stabbing victim told investigators he was robbed on the Withlacoochee State Trail near a mobile home park.
