TAMPA - Shannon Lise poked his head out of a Cadillac Eldorado during a traffic stop Wednesday and called "What's up?" to a city police officer.
He didn't wait around for an answer. Lise, 31, of Riverview, led the officer on a brief chase toting two gallon-size bags of marijuana before he was arrested, police said.
Lise was held on $6,500 bail at the Orient Road Jail today. He is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to sell and felony fleeing to elude, among other charges.
Officer Jerry Wyche pulled over the Cadillac about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at North 12th Street and Fowler Avenue after noticing the car traveling 55 mph in a 45-mph zone, police said.
After stopping, Lise popped open the driver's-side door, stuck his head out and called, "What's up?" to the officer. Then he drove away, police said.
Wyche followed the car onto North 12th Street, where Lise abandoned it in a driveway and hopped out while the vehicle was still moving, police said. The car stopped after striking a wooden landscaping tie.
Lise jumped over a fence carrying a black bag, police said. Wyche ran after him and caught him after Lise jumped over two more fences, police said.
Inside the bag were two gallon-size bags of marijuana containing a total of 956 grams, $570 cash and a cell phone, police said.
Before going to jail, Lise received stitches to a cut on his hand from jumping over the fences, police said.
