USAA Bringing More Than 400 Jobs To Tampa

Published: February 12, 2009

Financial services firm USAA will add more than 400 jobs in Tampa as it shuts down locations in Sacramento and part of a site in Norfolk, Va.

The jobs include customer service and home and auto insurance claims processing operations. Company officials, however, said these are not entry-level call center jobs. They require degrees and applicable insurance certificates.

USAA will first consider current employees from other sites, and then look to local applicants to bring into its current site near the intersection of Interstate 75 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

"This consolidation of facilities is driven by real estate capacity and expenses," USAA President and CEO Joe Robles said in a statement. "We value our employees and the world-class service they provide our members. We have a job for every eligible employee in good standing, and we have established a special, attractive relocation program to help retain as many employees as possible."

For information on the jobs, go to usaa.com.
