TAMPA - The cheery "Chad" character at Alltel may eventually go away as Verizon Wireless absorbs Alltel. But Verizon is adopting one of Chad's favorite sales tactics: the Alltel "My Circle" plan.
Verizon today plans to announce a new calling plan called "Friends and Family," which mimics Alltel's My Circle plans.
Under the new plans, customers can make unlimited calls to either five or 10 people, including people on other cellular carriers or with land-line phones. The plans will be a feature, available starting Sunday, to existing Verizon plans with prices at $59.99 per month for 900 anytime minutes (five people in circle) or $89.99 for 1,400 minutes (for 10 people in circle.)
"This helps people expand or mange their mobile family and manage their household budget better," Verizon spokesman Chuck Hamby said.
The plan only provides for unlimited calling. Sending text or cellular photos would fall within Verizon's traditional price plans.
