TRINITY - Love is in the air, Longleaf style, on Saturday.
Downtown Longleaf, off Starkey Boulevard just north of State Road 54, boasts a quaint setting that will celebrate Valentine's Day for those romantics who revel in expressing their love for another.
Highlight of the evening will be a 7 p.m. concert in the park by Dave Smith, "A Tribute to Johnny Cash."
Smith began impersonating Cash when he was 16 and has been singing Cash's music for 48 years. He has captured "the Man in Black's" throaty style of singing. Unlike some other impersonators of Cash, Smith not only sounds like him but resembles him as well.
Smith, a resident of the area since 1985, is a native of Chicago. He has performed in front of Tommy Cash, Johnny's younger brother, and at a Johnny Cash Festival. He has also performed on television and in Las Vegas.
People attending the concert are asked to donate canned food and $1. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Volunteer Way, a faith-based food charity on Congress Street in New Port Richey.
Another feature of the evening will be horse-drawn carriage rides through Longleaf, for which tickets are available at DeLuca's Fine Jewelry. In addition, participants in a special promotion at DeLuca's will receive a complimentary bottle of Champagne.
Contact DeLuca's at (727) 375-2992 for a carriage-ride reservation. Tickets are $35 for up to four people.
For information on Saturday's events at Longleaf, call Georgia Horton of Town Ground Espresso at (727) 267-0362.
