TAMPA - You'll soon have a little less time to get in all your shopping at three local Westfield Group malls.
Westfield Citrus Park, Westfield Brandon and Westfield Countryside in Clearwater will reduce their operating hours by one hour starting March 1. During the week, all three malls will begin opening at 10:30 a.m. rather than 10 a.m. and will begin closing at 8:30 p.m. rather than 9 p.m.
There will be no changes to the weekend hours. On Saturdays, all three malls still will operate from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Sundays, Westfield Citrus Park and Westfield Countryside still will open at noon and close at 6 p.m. Westfield Brandon will continue to open at 11 a.m. on Sundays and close at 6 p.m.
The changes apply to the specialty retailers at each mall but don't necessarily apply to department stores, movie theaters and restaurants that have exterior entrances, which set their own hours.
Taylor Clifton, marketing director at Westfield Citrus Park, said Westfield decided on the changes after meeting with retailers nationwide. She wouldn't specifically attribute the change to the recession but did say the intent is to conserve resources and respond to changes in consumer demand.
