Two men crossing State Road 555 in Polk County were struck and killed last night by an Oldsmobile, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The men, a 51-year-old and a 48-year-old, were crossing the northbound lane of SR 555 heading westbound at 11:30 p.m. last night when they were struck by a 2003 Oldsmobile driven by Locrastia S. Parker, 37, of Lehigh Acres, according to the FHP.
Officials identified the 48-year-old as Barry D. McGee of Clearwater.
According to an FHP media release:
The left front of the Oldsmobile struck one man and the right front struck the other. The first man was propelled across the inside lane of SR 555 and landed on the concrete median. The second man was propelled across the outside lane and landed on the curb.
Neither Parker nor her passenger, Leroy Griffin, 40, of Lehigh Acres, was injured.
The SUV received about $3,000 worth of damage.
The crash remains under investigation.
