Coldplay Show To Be Hot Ticket In August

Coldplay, which won Best Rock Album at the Grammys on Sunday night, will be coming to the Ford Amphitheatre on Aug. 9.

Coldplay also won Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance for "Viva La Vida."

Elbow and Kitty Daisy also are on the bill for the Sunday night show.

Tickets are $104.50 and $85.25 for reserved seats and $37.50 for the festival lawn and go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 21. They will be available through Live Nation at (877) 598-8698, www.livenation .com, or you can pick them up at the Ford Amphitheatre Box Office.

Gabriel To Protest At Oscars

Peter Gabriel's minute in the Oscars spotlight will lack one important element: Peter Gabriel.

The Academy Award-nominated singer won't perform at the Feb. 22 ceremony to protest an apparently revamped presentation of best original song contenders. Gabriel says in a video on his Web site that he objects to the songs being shortened to 65 seconds apiece and made part of a medley.

Gabriel is nominated alongside Thomas Newman for "Down To Earth" from "WALL-E."

The British musician says he'll still attend the Oscars, but is hoping a gospel choir will stand in for him onstage.

Organizers have warned that this year's ceremony will be full of new twists, including the way categories are presented.

Costner, Wife Welcome Baby Boy

Kevin Costner and his wife are proud parents of a baby boy.

Costner's wife, Christine Baumgartner, 34, gave birth to Hayes Logan Costner on Thursday night in Los Angeles, publicist Arnold Robinson said. He weighs 8 pounds, 15 ounces.

The 54-year-old actor told AP Radio before the baby was born that he would call him Hayes after "a cowboy character" in a Western he plans to film. Costner calls Hayes "a great Western name."

He's the second son for Costner and Baumgartner. Their other child, Cayden, is 21 months old.

Costner also has three grown children from a previous marriage.
