Man Accused Of Child Abuse

TAMPA - A Tampa man is accused of snatching his 1-year-old child out of a moving car during an argument with his estranged wife, putting the child in harm's way, an affidavit states.

Jo'ar Judas Michel, 24, of 8207 N. Brooks St., was being held without bail at Orient Road Jail on Saturday. He is charged with felony child abuse, felony interference with custody, felony witness tampering and misdemeanor domestic battery.
Tampa police arrested Michel about 3 p.m. Friday in connection with an incident at his home Wednesday, an affidavit says.

According to the affidavit, Michel became upset with his estranged wife while she was buckling their child into his car seat.

Michel poked his estranged wife in the cheek, then punched her in the face, the affidavit says.

As the woman climbed into the car to leave, Michel began unbuckling the 1-year-old while the car was moving, according to the affidavit. The woman screamed for the driver to stop and called police. Michel then grabbed the woman by her ponytail and smashed her cell phone, the affidavit states.

Man Charged In Hit-And-Run

A 46-year-old Port Richey man was arrested Saturday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident that killed a man and injured a woman on U.S. 19 Friday night in Port Richey, according to jail records.
Michael Richard Long, of 9238 Binnacle Drive, was charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury.

The male victim appeared to be in his early to mid-20s, Port Richey police Chief David Brown said. The woman appeared to be in her mid-30s.

Long was being held at the county detention center in Land O' Lakes. Bail was set at $15,000.

Deputies: Worker Had Pot

A man working at the Florida State Fair found himself the main attraction for deputies Friday morning after an investigator noticed two marijuana plants in his bunk trailer window, authorities said.

Michell Alex Medeiros, 22, of Cape Coral, was being held at Orient Road Jail. Bail was at $2,000. He is charged with felony cultivation of marijuana.
